We have been worming the kittens and it’s no an easy task! Trying to inject through a syringe into a tiny clamped shut mouth is a two man operaton! If you manage to actually administer the said liquid into the mouth it is like you have just electrocuted them! They then proceed to drip the white liquid out of their mouths rather than swallowing it leaving a trail of white spots all over the floor and a white foamy mouth as if they have rabies!!

But it it is essential here are the facts….

Kitten advice: protecting your kitten from worms

Stay worm-free

Just because your tiny bundle of joy hasn’t been outside doesn’t mean it can’t come into contact with parasites that can cause problems. Kittens can actually pick up worms from their mother’s milk, so the animal’s previous owner should have wormed it at two, five and eight weeks.

Common worms

The two main worms that affect kittens are roundworms and tapeworms. Roundworms can also infect people, especially children, and if they grow unchecked, they can even cause blindness. Tapeworms take up home in your kitten’s gut and steal the nutrients from its food. For a pet as tiny as a kitten, this can be very dangerous.

Regular treatment

By having your kitten wormed regularly, you give it the best possible protection against these nasty parasites. We recommend that kittens are wormed every month until they are six months old, then every three months after that.

Day 71 – Decisions Day 1

Our first lovely family came to visit the kittens today.

We meet the family back in May at the National Pet Show at the Excel in London where we were exhibiting the Chartreux as a breed and they feel in love with the Chartreux (not hard!)  They had already made the decision before the birth that they would like to have two kittens, a boy and a girl. Luckily Maddison had one gorgeous boy (‘Napoleon’ Solo) and I’m not ashamed to say we have totally fell in love with him too!

But today they had the exceptionally hard decision to choose their girl kitten.

We are extremely happy to announce that they have choosen the girl with the ‘eyes’ collar – Napoleon and her get on so well ??
