Week 9 … Day 63 …1st Injections 💉

Yesterday afternoon we took all the kittens for their first set of injections. We squeezed Maddison and the kittens into the carrier! They were all very well behaved both on the journey and at the vets 👍

The vaccination protects against the diseases: feline viral infectious respiratory disease (also called cat flu), feline panleucopaenia (or enteritis) and feline leukaemia

Kittens should have their first set of vaccinations at nine weeks old and at three months old they should receive the second set to boost their immune system. After this, kittens and cats usually need ‘booster’ vaccinations every twelve months.

Week 8 … Day 56 …Eyes starting to change

A kitten’s eyes start to change colour if they are going to, when they are anything from 3 to 6 months old. The most important thing is for them to process light so their vision is good before the colour of their eyes finally change to the colour they will be for the rest of their lives. In truth, a kitten’s eyes appear to be blue it’s because of the light that’s being refracted off their corneas. As the kitten gets older the hues start to change and it’s when they are around 7 weeks old that the colour really begins to change noticeably.
